This year’s anthology The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2013, edited by Siddhartha Mukherjee and Tim Folger is out today from Houghton Mifflin! It’s an incredible collection that I feel honored to be included in.
My article The Patient Scientist from Scientific American is featured in the collection. In it, I follow the amazing story of Ralph Steinmann, the scientist who helped uncover how our immune systems work and died the day before he was named as a Nobel Prize winner. His work in immunology led to many of the experimental cancer treatments that he and others credited with keeping him alive long past his initial prognosis–and just long enough to be awarded the prize posthumously.
You can order it here, from Amazon–or at your local bookstore!
