Salon Talks Octopus! …And Puppies?

“Octopuses: Big, Wet, Strong Puppies with Tools” — Salon.com

That headline pretty much captures it all…

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to talk octopuses–and my new book, Octopus! The Most Mysterious Creature In the Sea–with Salon editor Lindsay Abrams. Like me, she is fascinated by how popular, intelligent, and just pain weird octopuses are.

As she continues in the introduction:

“Octopuses, the eight-armed mysteries of the deep, are the smartest of invertebrates and, in the opinion of journalist Katherine Harmon Courage, among the most fascinating animals, period. There’s enough that we’re still trying to figure out about their larger-than-life personalities, uncanny intelligence and ability to disappear in plain sight to fill an entire book — as Courage has done in “Octopus!“. The book follows Courage as she delves into the wide world of octopus research — and cuisine — to try and figure out what it is about the sea creature that so captures the imagination.”

Read the full interview–including how octopuses really are like puppies–here at Salon. And much more about these wacky animals–and their strange grip on us–in my book: Octopus! The Most Mysterious Creature In the Sea:
